What
printer language does the OnePrint SE support ?
The OnePrint SE can convert it's input data stream to the following printer
languages:
- PCL 4 - HP LaserJet II
and compatible - PCL 4 is commonly used in personal printers as it requires
relatively little processing power in comparison with later versions
of the PCL languages. PCL 4 does not use any compression mode, the data
is sent as a Bit Map image to the printer, this limitation significantly
reduces the OnePrint SE performance since the output data stream is
larger in Bit Map image.
- PCL Level 3 - HP DeskJet
550C and compatible - PCL Level 3 is commonly used with the HP DeskJet
series, it is a limited PCL 5 version.
PCL 5 - HP LaserJet III and
compatible - PCL 5 Is widely used by other manufacturers who offer their
own models as "PCL 5 compatible". OnePrint SE is using the PCL 5 compression
mode which enables to decrement the output data stream.
- EPCL - Recently a new
feature has been added to the OnePrint SE driver ("EPCL").
This feature enables the OnePrint SE to download the fonts raster
to the printer and use them later. This feature dramatically decreases
the output data stream.
- PJL Support - Some PCL5
printers have the ability to accept Postscript data stream as well
as PCL 5 data stream, The command that chooses the printer language
is a PJL command. The OnePrint SE sends this command in the beginning
of a PCL 5 data stream, in the end of the data stream the OnePrint
SE will send a PJL command to restore the printer default . This feature
can be disable in the "PRINTER" sub menu.
- CANON CaPSYL (ISO) - all
canon printers models - ISO is the proprietary language of Canon personal,
office and workgroup printers. The OnePrint SE produced an ISO data
stream, this data is sent as a Bit Map image to the printer. The use
of a Bit Map image significantly reduces the OnePrint SE performance
since the output data stream is larger in Bit Map image.
- Epson - EPSON FX100 Printers
and compatible - This language is supported by most of the matrix printer
manufactures.
What
is the recommended printer language to set in the OnePrint
SE configuration ?
The recommended printer language is PCL 5 with the EPCL support. This is
the most advanced printer language that the OnePrint SE supports. It enables
compression and font download to the printer memory.
What
parameters do I need in order to configure the paper
size and orientation in the OnePrint SE ?
The paper size and the orientation
are to be configured in the sub menu "Trays" in the sub menu "IBM Options"
in the "Profile" menu. Those parameters are for the IBM emulation as well
as the LAN printer data stream output.
What
is PJL and what is it used for ?
PJL Support - Some PCL5 printers
have the ability to accept Postscript data stream as well as PCL 5 data
stream. The command to choose the printer language is a PJL command. The
OnePrint SE sends this command in the beginning of a PCL 5 data stream,
in the end of the data stream the OnePrint SE will send a PJL command
to restore the printer default . This feature can be disable in the "PRINTER"
sub menu.
How
do I enable/disable the PJL support in the OnePrint SE ?
This feature can be switch on and
off using a check box in the "PRINTER" sub menu.
What
is the OnePrint SE "EPCL" and where should I use it ?
Recently a new feature has been added
to the OnePrint SE driver ("EPCL"). This feature enable the OnePrint
SE to download the fonts raster to the printer and used them later, this
feature dramatically decrease the output data stream. The "EPCL" check
box is located in the sub menu "Target Options" in the "PROFILE" menu
